MOMMA LOVES… floral print dresses for spring!

The flowers are blooming in the garden and inspiring some of my favorite dresses for spring/summer!

Spring has sprung and so it’s time to break out the floral print dresses. I was actually at a music class with my little guy the other day (it was 90 degrees here might I add) and I looked around and everyone (mom’s and daughters) were all dressed in pretty floral print dresses and I realized I was the only one still in black! Of course, I am prone to wearing black through most of the year but who doesn’t love a bit of a botanical blast in their wardrobe to properly prepare you for the warm months ahead. After such a wicked winter (for most of the country anyway) why not celebrate with the season’s prettiest floral prints? MATERNITY MONDAY… chic maternity style

Achieving the perfect chic maternity style is more simple than it may seem. First rule is don’t hide the bump, embrace it – there is nothing more beautiful than pregnancy. Go for the figure hugging dresses for a super sexy yet chic maternity style, or try something more flow and bohemian – but the key is be you and be confident. These new curves are not ones that need concealing – they need celebrating. There are enough uncomfortable ailments that come with pregnancy (especially 1st trimester and third) but getting dressed in the morning doesn’t have to feel like a chore. MOMMA NEEDS… light leather jackets (to get me to summer)

My Rick Owens leather jacket is, perhaps, my favorite piece in my wardrobe. A great fit, a buttery soft fabric – its always perfect and timeless.

I’m feeling super spring-y this week with the gorgeous weather and the perfect warm weather footwear are a great pair of wedges. On the heels of Eva Mendez’s OBVIOUS joke about sweatpants I had to chime in on my feelings about the comfort go-to’s and insist that sexy sweatpants really DO exist. I remember after having Max is lived in sweats – it took maybe a year before I felt secure enough to slip back into jeans on a regular basis… Fortunately, sexy sweatpants were there to help me make the transition. Having a baby on board doesn’t mean sacrificing taste – it just means it’s time to search out some stylish maternity clothes. Yes, they do exist and often times they’re just the things you would gravitate toward when you aren’t pregnant with a bit of growing room in the middle. Expectant moms these days are looking chicer than ever with super stylish maternity clothes that will make you wish you could keep wearing them post baby (which is good because you don’t just pop into you’re old skinny jeans right after delivery). Yes, it’s exciting to start looking at baby clothes, but start dressing your little one before they arrive by styling your bump with pride! MOMMA LOVES… adorable kids shoes

Rockin’ in his new school shoes – out with the old (sniff sniff sad face) and in with a whole new crop of adorable!

I have a true addiction to kids shoes – I mean, I love shoes anyway, but when they come all miniature and adorable, I cannot stop myself. I don’t know if this is a good thing or a bad thing since my little man keeps growing out of his shoes at an alarming rate – this is hard because I am left with shoes he’s never even worn, BUT I have an excuse to keep on buying more shoes. These insanely cute kids shoes include everything from rain boots to doc martins and sneakers to sandals, and while he might get more enjoyment trying on my shoes (or my husbands) and waddling around the house, I get enormous pleasure in getting hims the latest and greatest mini me shoes (okay, not mini ME as much as just mini – no heels for him). Once upon a time I would have told you that asymmetrical clothing was a bit cheesy, or young, but no longer – this style is back and it’s chicer than ever. Everything from one shoulder to uneven hem lines are exploding in stores and reinventing silhouettes. This isn’t your hi-low prom dress – asymmetrical clothing has been cut to perfection to not only flatter the figure but also add an elegant pop of something different. MOMMA WANTS… spiked accessories (rock n’ roll baby)

Add some spikes to your wardrobe with some ultra cool accessories!

I’m all about adding a bit of an edge to my look so I am always drawn to spiked accessories. While not wanting to be injured by my own stiletto I absolutely love this touch of punk that’s not just edgy but also incredibly chic! A little bit of heavy metal on your bags an shoes might be exactly what you need to transform your look from classic to modern. These spiked accessories have been around for many seasons now and won’t be going anywhere any time soon, and while the more hardcore interpretations are more likely to find their way into Kate Moss’s wardrobe than Kate Middleton’s I think there’s plenty of room for some rock stud embellishments for all of us. Two of my very favorite design houses that have been embracing this trend for seasons now, Christian Louboutin and Valentino have taken the classic punk staples and translated them to high fashion fabulous.
