Getting ready for the first day of school with a whole new wardrobe!!

Well, summer is on it’s way out and it’s time for the kids to go back to school – which also means it’s time to do some shopping. I remember as a kid planning all my new outfits for my return to class. Well, my Max may not really care, but I am loving doing a bit of back to school shopping for his adorable new looks for the fall. Kids are not easy on their clothes, so it’s just as well they grow out of them so quickly, although not always the best for our pocket books… Fortunately there is a great range in prices tags for back to school worthy kids clothes! Getting them dressed and ready in the morning is undoubtably a chore, so get them excited with some amazing new outfits (and you can be excited that you get your life back). MOMMA PLEASE??? dressy kids clothes

Flash back to max’s first photo shoot – we decided to dress him preppy chic – nothing quite like getting our little ones dressed up – easier, of course, the younger they are!

Every now and then it happens, you need dressy kids clothes for a wedding/event where your little ones are actually invited. Time to shift the baby sitter money into a super cute outfit for your little one that is occasion appropriate that they hopefully won’t hate (we all know toddlers love to hate not the looks we love). Adorable dressy kids clothes can be quite frustrating because they may only ever where the look once before they grow out of it and get invited to another event so it’s nice when you can get things that aren’t too expensive or perhaps things that might be a little roomy now that they might be able to wear next year. Regardless, it’s important to take lots of pictures because this might be the only time you get to see them in their dressy kids clothes until christmas! Girls get the run of pretty princess dresses ( that aren’t actually Elsa costumes) which they will surely love but my secret to dressing my little guy is to find him mini versions of what his dad might be wearing… Turns out he can tell when I really want him to wear something (and so wants to fight me on it) but if he sees dad wearing it… Check out some of my favorite dressy kids clothes for all those summer occasions (where they’ve actually gotten an invite) and prepare for cuteness overload.

Yes! Adorable swimwear season – little suit for the little ones in our lives!

So we’ve talked about what bathing suits we’re going to brace this summer but it’s the kids swimwear that really makes me happy because it’s so darn cute and doesn’t make me want to put down my jelly doughnut. Little mini swim trunks and bikinis – who can resist? So first thing on my list is to schedule some swim lessons for my little guy, and next the search for adorable kids swimwear because ’tis the season. Gotta love kids summer clothes – obsessed with dressing the little ones like mini adults…

Now that it’s hot out and we need to worry more about bringing sunblock with rather than a jacket – its time to focus on outfits!

Honestly, kids summer clothes are by far my favorite – they adorable mini me style makes me long for a little girl, but don’t worry about me I’m having plenty of fun dressing up my little guy! From little summer dresses to shorts and tees the cuteness overload in in full effect. I just love seeing my little Max running around in his shorts and tanks like it makes sense – because it does and his little summer clothes wardrobe makes me insanely happy. They’ve got to stay cool and look cool in the heat, and even though most everything gets covered in mud, grass stains and popsicles – it’s totally worth it. MOMMA KNOWS… star prints are haute!

This is my little star… I love wearing a good start print and so does he!

So, last week I talked about hearts but this week I need to address the fabulosity that are star prints. There’s definitely been a bit of galactic inspiration both in women’s fashion and, of course kidswear lately. As I sit here my little Max is singling twinkle twinkle little star, holding a wand and dressed in head to toe stars down to his wellie boots and I want to join the star print party. There’s a beautiful whimsy to stars and they walks the line of being both cool and sweet. The great pattern in the sky always serves as inspiration both in life and art so it’s no surprise that star prints should emerge as a favorite among that fashion set. The Saint Laurent collections have been full of star prints in recent season so I’m thinking it might be time to incorporate it into my wardrobe too. So as my little one points up in to the sky shouting “Star! Star!” I feel the urge to find some printed pieces myself. Bags, shoes, clothes – these star prints are always fabulous and it’s time to add some twinkle to my look.

Spread joy with the love motif!

So yesterday I talked about my birthday and jewelry, well, with Valentines Day moment away I wanted to focus on love motifs in fashion that withstand trends and time. Everything from the iconic Cartier love bracelet to the word love and all the hearts that emphatically infiltrate our wardrobes (as well as our little ones). Great graphic prints are transformative – eye catching, beautiful and always a favorite!

I am always a huge fan of graphic prints – bold and strong they make a great statement without saying a word. A fabulous patterned piece puts a fun twist on an otherwise basic look. Everything from pop prints to florals and everything in between can be considered a graphic prints – it’s all about injecting a bit of eye candy to your wardrobe. Prints have long been popular and can be worn quite simply on their own or clashed, there seems to be an anything goes attitude to these brilliant statement pieces. And of course, as much as I am fan of some crazy patterns for myself, I’m an even bigger fan of graphic prints when it comes to dressing my little guy. MOMMA NEEDS… snow coats for moms and kids!

This is a flashback to a snowy London evening – it’s all about layers and a great coat that can keep you warm, dry and still kind of fabulous!

I conquered the british snow, now Max and I intend on taking on some California snow (and I’m not talking about the hollywood snow machine variety).

We live in LA – it hardly drops below 50 in the winter but we’ve started talking about taking max to see the snow and so it might be time for snow coats. With Big Bear and Mammoth just a (not too terrible) drive away we are thinking it might be nice for our little guy to see non hollywood manufactured snow and maybe even get him skiing down some bunny slopes but he hasn’t got any clothes appropriate for the severely cold weather that so much of the country is already encountering. This got me thinking, it might be time to start looking for snow coats for the colder climate. My own gear from my years in New York and even London is a bit worn and torn by the polar vortexes of yore so I’m officially on the hunt for new blizzard appropriate fashion. MOMMA WANTS… great sleepwear for christmas morning!

2 very important questions – what are all those presents under the tree?? And what pajamas will Max be wearing under that robe come christmas morning???

Every year come Christmas morning I rush to get the party started but, inevitably, I always seem to forget the importance of great sleepwear! Who’s got time to shower, get changed and brush teeth when there is a tree full of presents to unwrap (especially when you have kids who are standing over you and prodding you to wake up from sunrise). For years I have pleaded with my father and my husband not to take pictures of my during present opening because I am in horrible pajamas – when what I need to do is slap on some under eye concealer put my hair in a bun and invest in some presentable sleepwear! Our kids have adorable pj’s but I’m in my husband’s discarded boxers and tees and the slippers from christmases past. Yes ladies, if you haven’t done so already – it’s time for some great, photogenic sleepwear, not just because Christmas morning is awesome and should be captured on digital, but because we should have them. We spend almost half our lives in our pajamas, we really should give them more thought than we do…. So, this year, I’m going to get some great sleepwear that I can be proud to be seen in come Christmas morning, and also sleep comfortably in that evening and into the New Year!
