This fall it’s all about a great wrap to keep you warm. Everyone from Rosie Huntington Whitely to Cara Delevingne have made headlines rocking the super hot Burberry blanket wrap and that is just the tip of the iceberg. I’m talking about everything from cocoon sweaters to ponchos to blanket coats and capes – this outer layer is super hot (for keeping you warm). For everyone that loves cuddling under their favorite blanket by the fire during winter – this look can give you that cozy feeling even when you’re walking down the street – and you will look incredibly chic (not crazy) wearing it! These pieces are one part bohemian and one part upper east side lady which makes them 100% fabulous and achingly stylish. Check out some of my favorite options and get ready to get your wrap on!

I know sexy sweatshirts seems like some sort of oxymoron but imagine feeling the comfort of sweat but with the cut and style of something far cooler and sexier and voila! That’s right, once upon a time my wardrobe consisted of items that looked amazing but were either so uncomfortable I would change into jammies as soon as I got in my front door and/or so precious a butterfly gliding past would ruin it… Well, times have change and my darling Max has changed my wardrobe choices but not my aesthetic, so finding sexy sweatshirts that have enough style for my fashion appts yet enough comfort and versatility to wrestle my little one during a diaper change is key! The new sexy doesn’t have to be over exposed – the cool kids all know now that its not what you show but how you wear it – and it turns out comfort doesn’t have to mean ugly…Whether its the cut or about cut outs or even just a relaxed bit of edge – sexy sweatshirts are a must have! Fortunately for all of us, they happen to be totally in vogue at the moment even in a larger sponge bob square pants version (I kid you not – Moschino) – so we can all feel guiltless and chic about wearing what would have formerly been considered weekend couch attire. Check out some of my favorite sexy sweatshirts, and a few super cool versions (that aren’t sexy) for our little ones and get ready to get your stylish frump on!

One of my very favorite style tips is to pop your look with a great shoe or bag and red accessories are super hot for fall and the perfect bit of something extra special!! Last week I did a post on the prevalence of scarlet red clothing for the upcoming season and this trend extends to accessories as well! These red accessories are bold and gorgeous and an easy (and uber chic) way to inject color into your wardrobe. Whether you prefer a bright bold red and a deep burgundy – there are so many incredible options to choose from. Check out some of my favorite red accessories and prepare to pop your look with the seasons hottest shade of fabulous!

Leather clothing (and it’s vegan alternative) go together with fall like cookies and milk – its warm, sleek and effortlessly chic. Whether you go opt for a great pair of leather leggings or just a knit with a leather sleeve these pieces will keep your super stylish for the cooler weather. Leather clothing is easily dressed up or down and can look elegant for the office (think of a dimple leather pencil skirt) or rock n’ roll sexy with a tight leather pant. Bare in mind, while it may seem to reference the 80′s this leather is modern, better fitting, more streamline and sometimes not even real leather! The leather-like alternatives are not only incredibly well done but they are far less expensive and a great option for vegans (or anyone that feels uncomfortable wearing leather). Leather clothing will be everywhere for fall – check out some of my favorite pieces can start thinking about you whether you want to wear a lot or just a pop…
Fashionable maternity clothes are not a unicorn – they do exist, and it doesn’t mean pouring yourself into some tragic super trendy outfit either! When you are dressing for 2 (or more) your style world gets turned upside down. How do you dress so that you are both comfortable but still look like yourself? Finding fashionable maternity clothes might be more simple than you think, stick with clean, simply yet modern lines but have fun with color, prints and don’t be afraid to accentuate that bump. Now is the time to embrace your beauty, because this is truly the most beautiful time of your life! You’re skin is glowing and your hair is lustrous so enjoy this moment with fashionable maternity clothes that celebrate your new shape and growing family in style! That’s right, NY shows were last week and London shows are happening right now so 2015 spring fashion trends are beginning to emerge and I’m going to share my favorites! Remember that runway shows aren’t always literal – you may never see these items in stores but you can see some of these looks on the red carpet, in magazines and they are directional in terms of what will be hitting stores in the next 6 months! You can check out my favorite go-to fashion resource: style.com for all the latest shows, reviews and street fashion that will certainly inspire you and tickle your fashion fancy!
Some of the major 2015 spring fashion trends I’ve seen thus far (and remember, until we’ve seen Milan and Paris there are still many more to come) are truly transitional from fall. There is lots of black on the runway and even some leather and tartan – which for spring is significant and for us it means getting more wear from our fall wardrobe. Everyone from Vera Wang to Proenza, Narciso, Versus, Michael Kors and the list goes on featured black, white and the pair of them, meaning black is back (if it ever left). While there is lots of black, red and white (white is generally pretty huge for spring) there is a new color in town and that is yellow! Lots of designers from Carolina Herrera to Michael Kors featured pops of it in their collections!
More 2015 spring fashion trends include a techy feel – mixed media clothing and futuristic fabrications from patent to metal and mesh. Mixed media is nothing new but it s louder, prouder and more apparent than ever for Spring/Summer. Tech is reaching new fashionable heights with unique, interesting and embellished interpretations – even the most simple designs are fare more complex than meets the eye. These unique textiles and combinations could be seen everywhere from the ultra adorned Prabal Gurung collection to the red carpet ready J Mendel dresses and even to the minimalist stylings of Calvin Klein.
Floral as a spring/summer trend doesn’t seem particularly new, but the interpretation is. Michael Kors showed floral appliqué voluminous skirts while Carolina Herrera used unique prints that seemed almost digital and in several pieces like shattered porcelain. These new ways ways of translating floral was fresh, unique and incredible special and desirable!
Another 2015 spring fashion trend was menswear. Menswear could be seen in the super sexy (these ain’t your boyfriend’s shirts) Versus collection and then oversized yet achingly chic (perhaps these are your boyfriend’s shirts) for Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren. With the menswear trend it truly is all about how it’s tailored and styled – the perfect amounts of undone buttons, is the sleeve super long or is perfectly rolled. Are trousers long and lean or cropped and wide? These are the styling decisions you’ll have to make – there is plenty of ways to interpret the trend but balancing it with femininity (whether super sexy or fit and flared with a voluminous skirt) seems to be what’s particularly new with this trend.
Finally, one of the biggest new 2015 spring fashion trends was a utilitarian edge. Whether you call it military, safari or glamping – shades of khaki and cargo pockets were dominating the runway for both Marc Jacobs and Ralph Lauren. Make no mistake, while these designs were clearly referencing utilitarian/uniform fashion they were anything but basic – from rich fabrications to the most intricate luxe details – these looks were haute haute haute.
Oh, and for those wondering – trends that aren’t going anywhere include: cut outs, cropped tops, fringe, sportswear and sheer. Spring/summer fashion for 2015 looks like it’s going to be a glamorous, super sexy (with a twist) kind of season.
I love stripes. I do. I’ve said it before and every season that comes I know I can break out a simple classic stripes tee and pair it with anything and look great! Just think about it – stripes are the style common denominator between Kate’s Middleton and Moss – meaning whether you’re rock n’roll boho chic or pretty polished royalty – the looks is that universal. And, no, you don’t have to be british. In fact, stripes have been in vogue (probably since the beginning of time) but most notable (in the the fashion arena anyway) since Coco Chanel herself became inspired by the french naval uniform and turned breton stripes into a style staple. If you don’t have them in your wardrobe already, what are you waiting for? Whether pin stripe or wide, whether horizontal or vertical whether preppy or mod – there is a version for everybody! Stripes are far more than a mere trend – they are a forever go-to, so check out some of my favorites and earn yours by choosing which style works best for you!
The weather is still warm so it’s hard to believe that fall is around the corner but get ready because over the knee boots will keep you warm, sexy and in style when the cool weather hits! These boots are not for the faint of heart, they are thigh high and incredibly confident. Whether you go for a super high heel or a more conservative flat and whether you go for a boot that’s thigh high or just over the knee is clearly up to the individual, but regardless – these boots are hot hot hot! The key to pulling off over the knee boots stylishly rather than Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman is all in how you pair and wear them. Do NOT put them with a micro mini unless you are a pop star performing at the MTV Movie Awards. The way to wear fall’s hot over the knee boots is to wear them over your favorite skinny jeans, leggings, jeggings or under a sexy yet sleek pencil skirt. If you do wear them with a shorter skirt, make sure that the boots are just over the knee and the skirt hem is only an inch or 2 above that, wearing them with tights also helps to tone down the sex appeal and make it more high fashion. Check out some of my favorite over the knee boots and get sexy yet stylish for fall!
And some fabulous flat over the knee boots…
