MOMMA LOVES… cartoon style – pop print fun!

The kids know a thing or 2 that we can learn – like how great fruit is picked straight from the tree and that fashion doesn’t have to be so serious!

A bit of cartoon style pop prints are heating up the Moschino runway courtesy of Jeremy Scott and I think it’s a trend both you and your little one can enjoy together!

One of my favorite things about fashion is when its injected with a bit of whimsy which makes adding cartoon style pieces to your wardrobe essential. As the mom to a 2 year old boy, it can put a smile on his face but also check my fashion boxes. I have made reference to Jeremy Scott for Moschino’s wild references to everything from Sponge Bob Squarepants to Barbie but pop prints have has a huge revival and is not without it’s own fashion pop culture history. In fact pop culture is actually a perfect way to categorize these wild and humorous cartoon style references. Andy Warhol would have totally given his thumbs up! Our world today can be far too heavy so why not feature some of those childhood caricatures and wild cartoon style colors in our wardrobe. Of course, our kids have always known what we are just starting to figure out – fashion doesn’t have to be so serious – why not put some joy into the world with your style? Sartorially cartoon style will always get attention for it’s over the top flamboyance – but don’t worry, you don’t have to wear head to toe crazy to enjoy this pop art trend. MOMMA KNOWS… its a wrap (you need 4 fall)

It’s all about a great wrap for fall – poncho’s cape, blanket coats and cocoon knits you’ll just want to live in!

Of course here in Southern California we don’t get much in the way of arctic temperatures so for me it’ll be more of the knit variety…

MOMMA LOVES… cool, sexy sweatshirts (what?)

Fall has officially arrived – its time to break out the sweatshirts – but these sweatshirts are anything but frumpy.

I LOVE this Monrow sweatshirt – its insanely soft and the back detail gives it a bit of a sexy edge.

Its still a bit too warm for Max to be wearing his super cool sweatshirts in LA but we are looking forward to fall and his cozy new tops!

I know sexy sweatshirts seems like some sort of oxymoron but imagine feeling the comfort of sweat but with the cut and style of something far cooler and sexier and voila! That’s right, once upon a time my wardrobe consisted of items that looked amazing but were either so uncomfortable I would change into jammies as soon as I got in my front door and/or so precious a butterfly gliding past would ruin it… Well, times have change and my darling Max has changed my wardrobe choices but not my aesthetic, so finding sexy sweatshirts that have enough style for my fashion appts yet enough comfort and versatility to wrestle my little one during a diaper change is key! The new sexy doesn’t have to be over exposed – the cool kids all know now that its not what you show but how you wear it – and it turns out comfort doesn’t have to mean ugly…Whether its the cut or about cut outs or even just a relaxed bit of edge – sexy sweatshirts are a must have! Fortunately for all of us, they happen to be totally in vogue at the moment even in a larger sponge bob square pants version (I kid you not – Moschino) – so we can all feel guiltless and chic about wearing what would have formerly been considered weekend couch attire. MOMMA WANTS… pops of leather clothing for fall

Obsessed with my Helmut Lang leather leggings and my Zara sweater with (faux) leather sleeves for fall!

The look is equally parts sexy, comfortably and modern!

Whether you prefer just a pop of leather in a sleeve or detail or a great leather dress, pants or skirt (real or faux) this trend is the season’s must have!

Leather clothing (and it’s vegan alternative) go together with fall like cookies and milk – its warm, sleek and effortlessly chic. Whether you go opt for a great pair of leather leggings or just a knit with a leather sleeve these pieces will keep your super stylish for the cooler weather. Leather clothing is easily dressed up or down and can look elegant for the office (think of a dimple leather pencil skirt) or rock n’ roll sexy with a tight leather pant. Bare in mind, while it may seem to reference the 80′s this leather is modern, better fitting, more streamline and sometimes not even real leather! The leather-like alternatives are not only incredibly well done but they are far less expensive and a great option for vegans (or anyone that feels uncomfortable wearing leather). Stripes are perfect and chic for every occasion and every style (and season)… An easy style fixing go-to.

This Splendid striped dress has a bit of a mod feel – and I can wear it now while it’s still warm (100 degrees at the moment) then pair it with tights and knits when the weather gets cold!

I love stripes. I do. I’ve said it before and every season that comes I know I can break out a simple classic stripes tee and pair it with anything and look great! Just think about it – stripes are the style common denominator between Kate’s Middleton and Moss – meaning whether you’re rock n’roll boho chic or pretty polished royalty – the looks is that universal. And, no, you don’t have to be british. In fact, stripes have been in vogue (probably since the beginning of time) but most notable (in the the fashion arena anyway) since Coco Chanel herself became inspired by the french naval uniform and turned breton stripes into a style staple. MOMMA KNOWS… plaid is huge for fall!

On your mark… get set…

and go! Get ready for fall with some of the season’s hottest plaid pieces!

Plaid is as adorable on the little ones as it is versatile for us – it can go seamlessly from the office to the weekend to the evening whether your preppy or punk – this trend is here to stay!

There is no question that everyone is mad for plaid this fall. Various versions of the tartan print can be found on everything from relaxed western shirts to high fashion dresses making it THE trend to look out for. Whether you prefer your plaid bold and bright or small and subdued there is an option that will perfectly suit your style. Plaid is one part polished and conservative, so perfect for the office and one part referential to the british punk movement making it versatile, cool and style.
