My perfect summer little black dress by free people – less than $100 and a perfect must have for every wardrobe!

I did my little white dress post a few days ago but there is always room for summer little black dresses. LBDs as they are often referred to are always appropriate for every occasion and all year round but summer little black dresses are usually lighter material and have an overall more laid back feel and even a bit sexier. These dresses will always be the obvious go-to when you’re in a style quandary because they’re simple enough to dress up or dress down, classic and forever appropriate. Whether for a summer wedding or an afternoon bbq, the office or the opera, even just a walk in the park there is an lbd you can love and revisit all summer long! MOMMA LOVES… the little white dress

The little white dress – perfect for all your summer events and non events… Although, perhaps the cocktail dresses aren’t the most appropriate for wedding guests or cleaning the bbq.

The little black dress’s seasonal sister, the little white dress is always one of my favorite looks. Pristine and pretty, the little white dress always looks fresh and fabulous in the summer. As I have stated before, unless you are the bride (or have been requested by the bride) the one hard and fast fashion rule never to be broken is not to wear white to weddings, but otherwise you’re good to go! Nothing feels and looks better than a little white dress for running around town, a summer cocktail party or a relaxed poolside bbq. For the precious little ladies out there – white is a perfectly serene look (and actually a lot easier to clean than you might think – whether you feel comfortable using bleach, oxy clean or just using the sun’s natural bleaching powers to get the stains out and make whites their whitest). MOMMA LOVES… mini skirts

Max and I having a water duck vs water elephant battle – gotta love mini skirts for some relaxed summer fun.

They’ve been a love affair of mine since I was a little girl – mini skirts. Ever since I can remember I’ve gravitated towards them, perhaps because I’m tall (I’m 5’9″ now but was 5’8″ by the time I was 12) so that any skirt I put on ended up being pretty mini. I am notoriously not a rule breaker – never missed class or got in trouble – but I sure did get some dress code infractions due to my adoration for the micro mini. Still, to this day I have a large selection of mini skirts in my wardrobe – they may not be as short as they once were but I’ve always loved the mod vibe that they give off. Mini skirts can be great for winter paired with thick tights and perfect for a sexy yet relaxed summer look. The key to wearing them is to balance them with something more voluminous on top to keep the overall look chic and elegant. Whether worn with flat sandals for day or a cool chunky helm wedge of (for an ultra sexy look) sky high heels for evening mini skirts allow you to show of those legs – or however much leg you feel comfortable showing. MOMMA NEEDS… chic shorts for the warm weather

Chic shorts for the summer months are a must have – they’re nice enough for an evening out in heels or a playdate in flats… oh and comfortable too!

I love my Alice + Olivia shorts and Max is a big fan of his Zara… perfect for every occasion.

If summer means swimsuits and the great outdoors, it also means its time for some new chic shorts! Chic shorts give you a casual feel with the flexibility of looking more pulled together and polished. Jeans are great, but too hot for the summer, skirts of fabulous but not always so easy for chasing your little ones around, so great shorts that look super elegant, yet give you the flexibility and lightness you need are a wardrobe must. MOMMA NEEDS… swimwear for summer!

This could be my bravest moment… swimwear season people…

I love the Clover Canyon suits because I can properly swim and chase my little man around without being concerned about any wardrobe malfunctions and they’re super cute too!

I must confess I simultaneously look forward to and dread this time of year because of one word, swimwear. Yup, I once again have not made it to the gym in the past year and my lily white skin makes casper jealous, but my little guy loves the water and playing outside and swimming so its time to break out the swimwear. I actually love my Clover Canyon suits because they’re cute and stylish, not too swimwear-y and best of all, I can chase my son around comfortable and without worrying about potential wardrobe malfunctions. That said, everyone has their preferred style of swimwear to suit there needs and to accentuate whichever assets they feel most comfortable with… Remember, don’t be afraid of going for more modest swimwear style if that’s how your feel most comfortable – incredible one pieces are always in vogue, give you extra coverage and have a glamorous retro feel! As for our little ones, well, we can not worry about body issues and just focus on the cutest swimwear imaginable!!
