MATERNITY MONDAY…fashionable maternity clothes – oh yeah!

So, you’re clothes don’t fit, your bloated and exhausted – not feeling the joys of pregnancy, so let some fashionable maternity clothes shift your mindset. The first couple months are the hardest, obviously due to the fatigue and nausea – your bump looks like you’ve packed on some weight so you don’t feel comfortable in your clothes and yet you can’t really even tell anyone yet… Well, get ready for the second trimester with fashionable maternity clothes because when that baby belly started to represent and you start to feel better, you’re going to want to truly enjoy this time of your life. MOMMA WANTS… rompers and jumpsuits for summer!

Love a great romper for spring summer.

MOMMA LOVES… floral print dresses for spring!

The flowers are blooming in the garden and inspiring some of my favorite dresses for spring/summer!

Spring has sprung and so it’s time to break out the floral print dresses. I was actually at a music class with my little guy the other day (it was 90 degrees here might I add) and I looked around and everyone (mom’s and daughters) were all dressed in pretty floral print dresses and I realized I was the only one still in black! Of course, I am prone to wearing black through most of the year but who doesn’t love a bit of a botanical blast in their wardrobe to properly prepare you for the warm months ahead. After such a wicked winter (for most of the country anyway) why not celebrate with the season’s prettiest floral prints? Achieving the perfect chic maternity style is more simple than it may seem. First rule is don’t hide the bump, embrace it – there is nothing more beautiful than pregnancy. Go for the figure hugging dresses for a super sexy yet chic maternity style, or try something more flow and bohemian – but the key is be you and be confident. These new curves are not ones that need concealing – they need celebrating. There are enough uncomfortable ailments that come with pregnancy (especially 1st trimester and third) but getting dressed in the morning doesn’t have to feel like a chore. My Rick Owens leather jacket is, perhaps, my favorite piece in my wardrobe. A great fit, a buttery soft fabric – its always perfect and timeless.

On the heels of Eva Mendez’s OBVIOUS joke about sweatpants I had to chime in on my feelings about the comfort go-to’s and insist that sexy sweatpants really DO exist. I remember after having Max is lived in sweats – it took maybe a year before I felt secure enough to slip back into jeans on a regular basis… Fortunately, sexy sweatpants were there to help me make the transition. Having a baby on board doesn’t mean sacrificing taste – it just means it’s time to search out some stylish maternity clothes. Yes, they do exist and often times they’re just the things you would gravitate toward when you aren’t pregnant with a bit of growing room in the middle. Expectant moms these days are looking chicer than ever with super stylish maternity clothes that will make you wish you could keep wearing them post baby (which is good because you don’t just pop into you’re old skinny jeans right after delivery). Yes, it’s exciting to start looking at baby clothes, but start dressing your little one before they arrive by styling your bump with pride!
