MOMMA LOVES… harem pants (that’s right -harem pants)
You might think I’m talking crazy but I have totally jumped on the harem pants band wagon. At first I bought them for my son thinking how cute they were – a little drop crotch gave his droopy diaper butt a bit of style but then I kept on seeing them… I started styling them in my head…. And then I bought them. Harem pants are a fantastic alternative to skinny jeans – casual and relaxed yet easy to dress up. Now, I’m not talking about the old Hammer pants of yore with a crotch below the knee – I’m saying a classy slouchy harem pant that is the perfect partner to your favorite tee and flats for a trip to the park which can just as easily pair with a camisole and some fabulous heels for a night out (throw on a blazer and you’re ready for the office)! Ultimately, these pants are incredibly comfortable but the silhouette gives it enough of something special to make a stylish statement. I still love harem pants on my little guy cute and easy to get on and off and now I love them for me too! Check out some of my favorites that you’ll want to wear all spring!

MOMMA LOVES… personal jewelry

My greatest love, my baby Max, and my favorite personal jewels – Anita Ko earrings, Cartier love bracelets and Stephen Webster thorn ring .
I do. I love personal jewelry – it’s the things I put on everyday or never take off – the accessories I feel connected with almost like a second skin. Either these pieces have special meaning to me because they were given to me by my loved ones or there’s just something about them that I connect with. Personal jewelry are the earrings, bracelets, necklaces that don’t get in the way, don’t distract but give your look a bit of something extra special – a sparkle and unique touch. I almost consider these jewels to be like a perfume – something that you’ve chosen to represent you in a subtle yet lingering way. Don’t get me wrong – I love statement pieces too – an oversized necklace can truly transform an outfit, but the simpler more delicate pieces are the ones that get the most wear. Your favorite personal jewelry doesn’t have to be expensive, there doesn’t even have to be a deeper meaning to them – they just have to feel like you and almost as though you’re naked if you accidentally leave the house without putting them on. Check out some of my favorite personal jewelry – whether you’re classic or prefer a bit of an edge – see what you connect with and what you think can complete your look…

MOMMA LOVES… tie dyed clothes for a modern boho look

Spring has sprung and the rose garden is in bloom – time to break out some color and some boho inspired style.
Spring is here and summer is just around the corner which means its time to put a bit of vibrance back into your wardrobe and a great way to do this is with some beautiful tie dyed clothes. Music festival time is upon us, and while I have no desire to go out into the desert to check out cool music and use port potties in the baking sun – I do love some of the boho chic fashion… Some of you may be thinking that sounds a bit 80′s/early 90′s but the trend is a little bit ombre a little bit tie dye and far more boho than hippie. There’s a freshness to these tie dyed clothes that gives a very relaxed yet stylish look that allows you to just throw it on and you are effortlessly chic. Whether its a maxi dress or slouchy tee a wash of color into your look gives it just the pop of spring time you need. Always pretty, tie dyed clothes will always give you that vacation feel which is still wearable for your every day life. MOMMA NEEDS… beautiful bedroom furniture
So my little boy is the most amazing thing on earth, BUT he has taken over my home – so I’m taking back my sanctuary with some new bedroom furniture and furnishings… That’s right, he can have the living room, the office, the kitchen, dining room and of course his own room – but I’m reclaiming mine! We have started with a new bed and mattress and it is starting to feel like a big girl room again. Some great new bedroom furniture and dressings is transforming my room back into a space for me and my husband and not another play space for my little one. I’m not saying its a no go zone for Max – this is his house, we’re just living in it! No, in order to have a beautiful space for me I have some beautiful bedroom furniture that can also hide his toys. We actually got a teepee for him that sits in the corner that is his little fort (and hides his toys). It actually looks very cool and modern so, not an eye sore for us – and a fun spot for him. Other alternatives are beautiful storage benches for the end of the bed or other potential pieces of bedroom furniture that look great but can store his mess! Moms and Dad’s need a sanctuary – a place to remember that they’re not just mom and dad but they’re also husband and wife, grownups that want a grown up space to call their own. I’m not saying go out and spend a ton of money – but if your bed is tired it might be time to treat yourself, even with just a new headboard – or perhaps just some new throw pillows, a bedside table or just a fun accent piece that makes you happy… The key with creating a little oasis is keeping the furniture pretty neutral (taupe, grey, cream, navy) and then choosing an accent color or 2 that work together and popping the room with accents – throw pillows, lamps, rugs, decoratives etc… Check out some of my favorite bedroom furniture and furnishings that give you the escape from all the barbies, legos, tucks and everything else that Toys R Us threw up in the rest of the house…
MOMMA KNOWS… April showers means rain coats and boots
Its been a frigid winter for much of the country – but Spring is upon us and as the weather warms up snow will be rain (at least for a little while) and its time for rain coats and boots! I’m talking waterproof trench coats and wells to keep us and our little ones dry but not being afraid to dance in the rain. There is nothing my little ones loves more than jumping in puddles… which is sad considering we live in LA and it’s rained twice in the last year… But he seeks out a little divot in the driveway where water collects from the sprinkler and he goes for it every day. So, for all those ladies that are getting ready for April showers (on a bright note – they do bring May flowers!) I wanted to share some super chic rain coats and boots that actually make me long for the days we were living in London (and rain coats and boots were part of my daily uniform). So, if you’re going to get wet, you may as well look great! And for the little ones – rain coats and boots are not only adorable but can also protect there lovely clothes from getting drenched and ensure they can splash in as many puddles without fear of catching cold. Check out some of my favorite rain coats and boots to get you through April and whenever a little rain may come.

MOMMA LOVES… neon accessories for women and kids!

Obsessed with a pop of neon – my favorite Valentino pink patent flats and Max’s electric grid Vans playing in the ball pit!
So, following up on last weeks post – today I’m featuring some of my very favorite things – neon accessories! As I mentioned previously, I just love a great bold wild pop of color and nowhere does it work better than with accessories. Bags, shoes and jewels are truly what makes an outfit. They transform your classic pieces into stylish modern looks. Neon accessories are enormously popular among top design houses, Yves Saint Laurent and Valentino recently so make no mistake, this is a trend that is here to stay. Highlighter shades of pink, yellow, orange and green are attention grabbing and incredibly chic! Neon accessories are the fastest and most effortless way to pop an outfit and have people chasing you to find out where you got that… As cool as it is for us ladies, your kids will love and want some of their own – so check out some of my favorites neon accessories for you and your little ones!

MOMMA LOVES… ruffles for women and their mini-me’s

Sorry, I couldn’t resist the obvious “Ruffles” reference picture… Always chic and feminine for the ladies and yummy too!
Believe it or not – I love ruffles. I am not a girly girl dresser – you will most certainly see me in jeans about 50 times more than you will see me in a dress, but a little flourish I can’t resist. Ruffles often insinuate sweetness – which they can be (and there is nothing wrong with that – especially with little girl clothes) – but in actual fact there is so much more to ruffles. They can be modern, architectural, bohemian, ironic and, of course, feminine. A ruffled mini with a distressed tee and some great ankle boots or a pair of skinny jeans with a ruffled top give that perfect effortlessly elegant look. I describe my personal style as classic with a twist – sugar and spice – and a great piece with some well placed ruffles can be the perfect item to give your look that extra something it needs. Its a fun, flirty look that can be dressed up for all those summer time weddings we have to look forward to or dressed down for a casual afternoon at the park…. For our little ones, nothing could be cuter than ruffles – dresses bloomers, skirts (tutus!) and tops all look that much daintier with a little flourish (plus easter is coming up -ruffles are perfect for your little lady). Check out some of my favorite ruffles for us and the little ladies (sorry Max – not much of this for little boys – makes me wish you had a sister though)!
