Of course, living in LA this is about as layered as I get these days, but when I lived in London and New York my favorite heavy coat would easily fit over all of these layers!
Yes, I love a chunky cardigan, and being wrapped in an oversized pullover but its those slim knits that not only transition me to cooler weather but layer perfectly under everything from a skim blazer to my puffer jacket and winter coats… These are those fine knit knits that hug the body, look chic (when you take off your outer layer), give you that extra layer of warmth but also allow you to not overheat when you’re inside.
