Proenza Schouler, in my eye, brought these bags to the forefront of fashion with their PS1 (satchel) bags which became an instant “it” bag and has yet to loose it steam season after season. These satchels are indeed practical but with a downtown cool girl edge that makes them endlessly desirable yet classic. This messenger style can go over the shoulder or cross body and can even be handheld giving your look and back all the effortless style and comfort you might possibly need. MOMMA KNOWS… slides are hot right now

That’s right, I said it, slides are hot – super hot right now. Slides are those super simple flat shoes that you basically just slide on – think the birkenstock and the many variations you are seeing everywhere. While they may not be my personal style, they are HUGE and a major footwear trend right now. As I cringe inside a little I know there are many many who are so excited to bring out their slides or getting ready to invest in one of the hot new reinvented versions of the old faithful. You don’t have to be a hippie – this trend has transcended it’s affiliations of yore – they are now modern, fresh and can be seen on everyone from th hottest young bloggers and the coolest celebrities to your teenage next door neighbor and your mom.. MOMMA LOVES… printed accessories add a stylish twist

Max’s car print Converse sneakers and my new pistol print Miu Miu flats are two of our favorite pairs of shoes for making a stylish statement!

Last week I talked about all the playful pattern mixing out there but there’s another way to pop your look and that’s with some fabulous printed accessories! MOMMA NEEDS… chunky heeled shoes

A great chunky heel sandal (like my favorite Lanvin sandals) are the perfect shoe to carry you from season to season with effortless style!

One thing I learned very early is the importance of chunky heeled shoes. All it took was shredding my favourite stilettos between the wooden slats on my friends deck at a bbq to realise skinny isn’t always best. Chunky heeled shoes give you more surface area to put your weight on so they’re much easier to walk in but they also give a bit of an edge to your look. I am not a fan of mini skirt or mini dresses with a sky high stiletto.. I think it can quickly look tarty and contrived – but pair the same look with chunky heeled shoes and you have a completely different style. Its relaxed, cool, simple yet fashion forward. I also think that chunky heeled shoes transition more easily between seasons. The same shoe you wear in summer with your mini skirts and sundresses can be worn with tights for fall/winter seamlessly.
