MOMMA WANTS… rompers and jumpsuits for summer!

Love a great romper for spring summer.

yup – under the little frill skirt are short – meaning I can feel free chase Mr. Max around the garden.

But still look super cute for an outdoor BBQ.

There is no better outfits for spring than great rompers and jumpsuits. These incredibly chic one pieces are perfect because, well, it’s one pieces and you’re done! No messing around with separates and they’re relaxed and comfortable yet chic and stylish enough that you can roll around in the garden with your little one, go to an office meeting, or have a fancy evening out in this same look (with a few accessory switch ups). MOMMA LOVES… floral print dresses for spring!

The flowers are blooming in the garden and inspiring some of my favorite dresses for spring/summer!

Spring has sprung and so it’s time to break out the floral print dresses. I was actually at a music class with my little guy the other day (it was 90 degrees here might I add) and I looked around and everyone (mom’s and daughters) were all dressed in pretty floral print dresses and I realized I was the only one still in black! Of course, I am prone to wearing black through most of the year but who doesn’t love a bit of a botanical blast in their wardrobe to properly prepare you for the warm months ahead. After such a wicked winter (for most of the country anyway) why not celebrate with the season’s prettiest floral prints? MOMMA NEEDS… light leather jackets (to get me to summer)

My Rick Owens leather jacket is, perhaps, my favorite piece in my wardrobe. A great fit, a buttery soft fabric – its always perfect and timeless.

This crazy time between winter and spring brings amazing sunny days that can be hot, or crisp, with cooler evenings making light leather jackets the perfect transitional piece. On the heels of Eva Mendez’s OBVIOUS joke about sweatpants I had to chime in on my feelings about the comfort go-to’s and insist that sexy sweatpants really DO exist. I remember after having Max is lived in sweats – it took maybe a year before I felt secure enough to slip back into jeans on a regular basis… Fortunately, sexy sweatpants were there to help me make the transition. MOMMA LOVES… asymmetrical clothing

Once upon a time I would have told you that asymmetrical clothing was a bit cheesy, or young, but no longer – this style is back and it’s chicer than ever. Everything from one shoulder to uneven hem lines are exploding in stores and reinventing silhouettes. This isn’t your hi-low prom dress – asymmetrical clothing has been cut to perfection to not only flatter the figure but also add an elegant pop of something different. MOMMA KNOWS… military style is on point.

The perfect military style piece is super hot for spring summer. Pair it with something more feminine to achieve perfect balance.

As a stylist and a mother, I’m loving the utilitarian trend – momma needs plenty of pockets!!

During the spring summer catwalks shows (ahem, Marc Jacobs) a new trend emerged – military style or utilitarian chic would be the next big thing. I’m not talking about camo necessarily but I am talking about shades of khaki and olive with some oversized pockets and detailing that would seem better suited for a soldier than a fashionista. That said, this military style is incredibly chic whilst still feeling incredibly cool. Giving a nod to our incredible men on the front line, this trend pays homage to the utility looks which blend fashion with practicality. Hey, anything that gives me more pockets I’m not mad at. MOMMA LOVES… the layered look

This Crosby St. by Derek Lam layered top is one of my favorites… Its a perfectly pre-styled piece (actually 2 pieces) that immediately makes an outfit!

The layered look is that perfectly styled outfit that appears to have been meticulously planned yet entirely effortless. The brilliant thing is you don’t need a troupe of stylists to help you achieve this look anymore because so many designers are doing it for you. MOMMA NEEDS… pleats please

Denim with a fitted blazer is my uniform – but I love to throw in a little pleated top to add texture and volume – pleats pieces might be exactly what your wardrobe is missing…

Whether accordian or box, pleats are always a major style hit. More fabric can mean more motion and these perfectly folded layers add movement to your favorite pieces. There truly is just something about pleats that makes me want to twirl – I don’t know if it’s a girly-nesss necessarily but there is certainly a feminine feeling. Super easy to wear, these pleats are exactly what you need to get ready for spring! They just add texture and dimension to a skirt, top or dress which takes it to a new design level. I’m a huge fan of pleats and these are some of my favorite pieces!
