The hot weather is here, so while we need less clothes we also want our summer style for less too. All around, the warmer months are less expensive – we eat less and we wear less but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to look great for all those summer bbqs and vacations we have planned. Achieving great summer style for less is closing carefully where we choose to spend money – the perfect go-to summer time dress, fabulous shorts, perfect sandals… It’s all about finding the perfect balance in your look and finding those items that haven’t sacrificed style for price. MOMMA LOVES… denim cut offs for summer time.

Nothing better on a hazy summer day then the perfect pair of denim cut offs. These Blank Denim shorts can be dressed up or dressed down for some fun in the sun!

Sorry jeans, it’s hot out and it’s time to break out the denim cut offs for all my casual summer time affairs (and non affairs). The perfect pair of slightly distressed shorts pair perfectly with everything from t-shirts and tanks and easily dress down your fancier tops. These denim cut offs work for just about every occasion (except, of course for work or weddings) but they’re easy to dress up or down with a change of shoes. Pair them with flat sandals or sneakers for a low key trip to the park, with flip flops to the back or with wedges and a cute blouse for an evening bbq. Great denim cut offs are the perfect blend of casual yet stylish and to top it off they’re super comfortable (and hard to mess up – for those of us with rough and tumble toddlers). MOMMA NEEDS… black tie dresses

These pictures were taken last year but they’re my absolute favorite – this long dress is perfect for any black tie event.

I actually bought this 2 months after I had Max (and was nowhere near losing my baby weight) for a friend’s wedding and it truly was the perfect dress. I could have even worn it while pregnant!! Thank you lots and lots of fabric.

The perfect black tie dress is long, elegant, and makes you feel like a million bucks!

As I mentioned, it’s wedding season, and a question I get all the time is “what’s a black tie dress?” Well ladies, while times aren’t as rigid as they once were and some cocktail length dresses are permissible, as a general rule of thumb it means long. When the attire request is black tie it means the men must wear tuxedos and the women must where floor length gowns. I’m not talking about cinderella style ball gowns but long is always safest. This can be quite challenging because we tend not to look for these black ties appropriate dresses, but the fact is, it’s always good to have one or two in your wardrobe for these occasions. Again, you won’t get a lot of use out of them in on season so, as with cocktail dresses, opt for ones you could imagine holding on to for years to come. MOMMA LOVES… cocktail dresses for those summer weddings

This Temperley dress has served me very well and has made the rounds to several summer time weddings – the color is unique but the cut and style feels classic (and it always goes with an ice cold glass of champagne!)

Wedding season is upon us and we may not be the bride but we’re still going to need cocktail dresses for all those fabulous summertime festivities. Getting those invitations can seem daunting , the what to wear quandary is always a hot topic, so may as well get right to it. Choosing great cocktail dresses is really about finding those looks that can go the distance, you don’t want a closet full you want a couple great ones that are a nice quality that will withstand trends and time to service you for all those future events you will have in years to come. You can totally wear a dress more than once – just spread them out and repeat wearing them to events where maybe the same people won’t be attending or accessorize differently so that no one will suspect it’s the same dress. There are so many great cocktail dresses for summer but my favorite thing is to take the warm weather as an excuse to experiment with color, sparkle and a bit more glamour. Little black dresses will always have their place, but while you’re tan and the sun is out, now is the time to opt for more exciting options. One last hard and fast rule for any wedding attendees – unless specifically requested to do so by the bride, DO NOT WEAR WHITE to any wedding where you are not the bride. Period. MOMMA LOVES… embroidered clothing

When I first saw this Zara embroidered jacket I fell instantly in love.

It’s completely inspired me for how I want to dress all season – a little homage to vacations in the Greek Islands as a child.

MOMMA’S UNDER $100… high style for less $$

This is my favorite thing under $100! But as far as clothes and accessories go their are plenty of great options too!

This world is expensive and while we may love fashion and need clothes finding high style for less money is exactly what we’ve been looking for. This world is expensive, especially with kids there’s a whole new level of costs you may not have anticipated – which means that staying on top of the latest trends becomes the least of our concerns. However, as it turns out, looking fashionable doesn’t have to break the budget because finding high style for less is more prevalent than ever. These designers are working hard to make great less expensive options that don’t sacrifice taste levels – and I am all for that!!
