MOMMA NEEDS… pajamas (b/c bedtime should look good too)

Bedtime should look good too!! Time for some great pajamas for both us and our little ones!

There is one area of my wardrobe I need to focus more attention on – my pajamas… You spend a large amount of time out of every day in them and yet I find myself sticking to my husband’s old t’s and underwear…. While this is comfortable and easy, its time for me to grow up and look into getting some real big girl pajamas. My little one looks so adorable in his jammies so, why can’t I? Something soft and comfortable that doesn’t look like it should be used to clean the house… There is nothing quite like a lazy sunday morning eating breakfast in bed and not getting out of our pajamas until noon so they may as well be cute, right? I actually did a photo shoot a little while ago with a celebrity – and it was all sleepwear and I fell in love with all the Eberjey pajamas that I had pulled in for the shoot and it got me thinking… It’s time ladies, time to start paying a bit of attention to the outfit we where the most that only our little ones, husbands and house guests are privy to – pajamas. MOMMA LOVES… fit and flare dresses

Mom and Dad finally get a night out – he gets the keys to the house and we get some alone time!! (PS – don’t worry, he gets to hang with his Nana and Papou!)

My favorite little fit and flare dress is the perfect look for the rare occasion called – date night!

The hour glass silhouette defines femininity and nothing accomplishes this look better than fit and flare dresses. Form fitted on top with a defined waist with a increased volume at the hips is not only a figure flattering shape but has withstood the test of time for as long as women wore dresses. MOMMA LOVES… camisoles – the perfect summer sleeveless!

Camisoles in summer time are part of the seasonal uniform.

Camisoles are not just for layering anymore – they are, in fact, the ideal summer top! Camisoles are essentially sleeveless, lightweight blouses – they can be more lingerie like but there are so many more variations to keep you cool and feminine in the warm weather. Of course, this post must come with the caveat that the slinkier sexier camisoles should be layered for the office – if it looks like underwear – that’s wear it belongs in a professional setting. That said, camisoles can look amazing paired with anything from distressed denim to maxi skirts to a sexy mini for evening. When the weather gets hot – who wants to wear sleeves – camis give you that refined feminine alternative to basic tanks. MOMMA NEEDS… denim shorts for us & our little ones!

Summertime means popsicles, the outdoors and relaxation – denim shorts are my weekend uniform… and Max looks pretty adorable in them too!

Summer months mean its too hot for our tried and true blue jeans – so denim shorts are the way to go for running errands to poolside barbecues. Whether your prefer classic, colored, distressed, cut offs or cuffed – denim shorts are the easy breezy styling option to go with your favorite tanks and tees. Nothing says relaxed summer attire like a great pair of denim shorts – certainly not office appropriate but entirely weekend worthy! MOMMA LOVES… skorts – party in the front business in the back!

I have to say – I do love my new Zara skorts – they tick all my boxes – ready for a summer party in the front

But all business (or at least ready for a run around with my little guy) in the back!

I have done my posts on mini skirts and shorts so now comes one of my favorite new trends – skorts which are everywhere right now! Skorts give you the pretty polish of a skirt with the sensible wearabiity of shorts, basically its a fashion win win! Great for when you want to look more pulled together but with more flexibility. I love my skorts because they are so versatile – I can literally go from chasing my son around the garden to brunch with girlfriends and even a night out. I remember wearing them during my childhood because it gives that girly appearance while still allowing me to climb the jungle gym and keep up with the boys on my bike and now I can have that the best of both worlds with summer’s hot new bottoms. MOMMA LOVES… the little white dress

The little white dress – perfect for all your summer events and non events… Although, perhaps the cocktail dresses aren’t the most appropriate for wedding guests or cleaning the bbq.

The little black dress’s seasonal sister, the little white dress is always one of my favorite looks. Pristine and pretty, the little white dress always looks fresh and fabulous in the summer. As I have stated before, unless you are the bride (or have been requested by the bride) the one hard and fast fashion rule never to be broken is not to wear white to weddings, but otherwise you’re good to go! Nothing feels and looks better than a little white dress for running around town, a summer cocktail party or a relaxed poolside bbq. For the precious little ladies out there – white is a perfectly serene look (and actually a lot easier to clean than you might think – whether you feel comfortable using bleach, oxy clean or just using the sun’s natural bleaching powers to get the stains out and make whites their whitest). MOMMA NEEDS… more storage solutions to hide the toys!

So happy that he had a great birthday… but now it’s time to find storage for all the mess (aka toys) – loving his new Little Tikes tire toy box – will be perfect as his nursery becomes a race car themed bedroom..

So, my son just turned 2 last week and it’s amazing how much he’s managed to accumulate in that short span of time that has meant an immediate need for us to find more storage solutions. MOMMA LOVES… mini skirts

Max and I having a water duck vs water elephant battle – gotta love mini skirts for some relaxed summer fun.

They’ve been a love affair of mine since I was a little girl – mini skirts. Ever since I can remember I’ve gravitated towards them, perhaps because I’m tall (I’m 5’9″ now but was 5’8″ by the time I was 12) so that any skirt I put on ended up being pretty mini. I am notoriously not a rule breaker – never missed class or got in trouble – but I sure did get some dress code infractions due to my adoration for the micro mini. Still, to this day I have a large selection of mini skirts in my wardrobe – they may not be as short as they once were but I’ve always loved the mod vibe that they give off. Mini skirts can be great for winter paired with thick tights and perfect for a sexy yet relaxed summer look. The key to wearing them is to balance them with something more voluminous on top to keep the overall look chic and elegant. Whether worn with flat sandals for day or a cool chunky helm wedge of (for an ultra sexy look) sky high heels for evening mini skirts allow you to show of those legs – or however much leg you feel comfortable showing. MOMMA LOVES… jelly shoes – they’re baaaaaaaccckkkk

Jelly shoes are perfect for all your summer outings – chic enough for brunch yet water resistant for the beach – I am loving my Asos and Max has goes everywhere in his Old Navy rubber shoes!

When I was in high school jelly shoes were HUGE and for many years I’ve looked back at pictures of myself wearing those clunky clear things and cringed… Well, they are back and they are chicer than ever!! Hard to believe that jelly shoes could be so stunning, but they are and the practicality of them is the added bonus. I remember having a friend and her 2 year old son over to hang out by the pool – I was admiring her gorgeous new sandals which she had taken off to sit next to me with her feet in the pool and the next thing we knew her little angle had grabbed them and thrown them into the deep end. So much for her gorgeous sandals. Well, jelly shoes are water proof so PERFECT for all your summer outings. They are also perfect for our little ones (I’m going to include various water proof shoes as well) because I, for one, have a little guy that wants to play at his water table, jump in the pool, run into the garden and, while bare feet are great, sometimes the stone around the pool is hot hot hot and not good for his delicate toots.
