When you’re pregnant you start thinking of all the things you need for when the baby comes – everything from diapers to the all important gliders and rockers. Gliders and rockers are a must have for your nursery – a great chair that you can sit in comfortably to breast feed, relax in or rock your precious angel to sleep. You will spend a lot of your time in this chair and for years to come – it was one of the major purchases in our nursery we did not want to cut corners on. Gliders and rockers need to be comfortable, cute for your babies room and yet still nice enough that once your child grows and want to replace that space with a hot wheels track or my little pony stable it can still find a place somewhere else in your home… When you are doing those middle of the night feeds or soothing your little one when they’re unwell or having a night terror – this chair will be your closest ally. Check out my favorite gliders and rockers you need to check out for your little one’s nursery!
MOMMA LOVES…. puffer jackets!
When I started to do my coats post I got so lost in the land of puffer jackets I knew they would need their own feature. Puffer jackets are soft and cozy like your duvet – they keep you warm and comfy but also protect you from all the elements. Once upon a time they actually looked like you had left your house wearing your bedding but now a days the cuts are feminine and actually really flattering making them a winter outerwear must have. That’s right, puffer jackets actually super chic and stylish now so you can wear them in the rain, snow or just frigid weather and still look great for an evening out, going to the office or just a snowy weekend away. Of course, for our little ones they are incredibly practical and necessary for when winter hits – the soft down keeps them insulated and the techno outer layer keeps them dry! Check out some of my favorite puffer jackets for both us and our little ones so you can feel like you’re still in bed but look like you’re ready to take on the town!

MOMMA NEEDS… winter coats (it’s officially time)
That’s right, the bathing suits have been packed away and it’s time to start thinking about winter coats. Where I am in Southern California there may not be any need for the warmest coats (we think 60 degrees is freezing) but after years of living in New York and London I have a true appreciating for great outerwear. Winter coats are going to be worn every day for months on end so its important to select a style you love because it’s going to be the first thing people see, its going to be your shelter from the cold and it’s got to withstand time and the harsh winter element. These are the pieces you will get the most use out of this season, they have to be able to be layered and go with everything – not that you have to stick with a neutral (a pop of color or a playful print can be a great option. Check out some of my favorite winter coats (for both us and our little ones) and get ready to keep warm and look fabulous this season!

MOMMA NEEDS… winter white now!
So, the weather (even here in Southern California) is starting to get cold and it’s time to break out your winter white clothes! I know it seems crazy and against the “rules” (white after labor day – poo poo) but its super chic and it’s not just for summer anymore!! You can where the frost color all year round but we just call it winter white come fall… Nothing looks as crisp and fresh as white and for those of us who don’t lead a perfect stain free life (hello, kids equal messy) it’s all about stocking up on some oxi-clean! Winter white is traditionally an off white to cream version of the traditionally summer hue – but I think that in this day and age even a crisp icy white can look appropriate (and incredibly chic) for the cold months! You can wear white on white, keep it tonal with shades of light, pair it with color for a pop, keep it modern and slick with black or soft and pretty with one of the many shades of gray flooding the market – you simply can’t go wrong! Check out some of my favorite winter white clothes to get you through the cold months and well into spring summer – there’s nothing seasonal about looking fabulous!

MOMMA NEEDS… fall’s new knits!
This fall is ALL about the new knits – and what do I mean by new knits? It’s all about the unexpected and fresh ways of pairing them and styling them. Everything from chunky to fine gauge, funnel knock to classic turtle neck and everything from sweaters and cardigans to dresses and leggings. New knits is all about proportions, silhouettes, layering and simplifying but it’s all about being cozy chic! Keeping warm has never looked so cool – these aren’t the pretty preppy sweaters, they’re unexpected, playful and yes, achingly sophisticated. Check out some of my favorite new knits of the season and get ready to experiment with your style all while staying comfy and elegant!

MOMMA LOVES… halloween costumes time!!
It’s the start of holiday season and October 31st is around the corner, meaning it’s time to check out halloween costumes! I must confess, my child may not know much about holidays just yet but he loves a good pumpkin patch, pumpkin carving and dress up time!! Halloween costumes are endless entertainment for us as parents and they embody what it means to be young and use your imagination. When I was a kid my mom would tirelessly work for weeks making our costumes, and I truly admire those mom’s out there plugging in the hot glue guns and saddling up to the sewing machine, however I’m lazy and store bought costumes are so flipping great these days!! From superheros to the phenomenon that is Frozen and everything in between are available and ready to delight our little ones (and let’s face it, the adults who love them). So get your camera’s ready because it’s halloween costumes time and I’m rounding up some of my favorites for you guys (PS – I totally bought Max’s the moment they started hitting the shelves 2 months ago – waiting is not my strength).

MOMMA LOVES… cartoon style – pop print fun!
One of my favorite things about fashion is when its injected with a bit of whimsy which makes adding cartoon style pieces to your wardrobe essential. As the mom to a 2 year old boy, it can put a smile on his face but also check my fashion boxes. I have made reference to Jeremy Scott for Moschino’s wild references to everything from Sponge Bob Squarepants to Barbie but pop prints have has a huge revival and is not without it’s own fashion pop culture history. In fact pop culture is actually a perfect way to categorize these wild and humorous cartoon style references. Andy Warhol would have totally given his thumbs up! Our world today can be far too heavy so why not feature some of those childhood caricatures and wild cartoon style colors in our wardrobe. Of course, our kids have always known what we are just starting to figure out – fashion doesn’t have to be so serious – why not put some joy into the world with your style? Sartorially cartoon style will always get attention for it’s over the top flamboyance – but don’t worry, you don’t have to wear head to toe crazy to enjoy this pop art trend. Check out some of my favorite cartoon style pieces for you and your little ones and pair some of these pieces into your wardrobe and throw some levity into your fashion arena.
And while I don’t really agree with non-vintage style caricature print clothing for the kids – they absolutely love it (and Frozen is a phenomenon, the like of which I’ve never seen). So here are some cartoon style fashion for our little ones (both literal and non literal)…

MOMMA LOVES… that it’s ankle boots season!
For me, I think it’s ankle boots season all year long but most certainly come fall they are part of my uniform. They perfectly pair with everything from denim to dresses and can service all your fashion needs from playdate to the office to night out on the town. Ankle boots are chic yet hip, cool yet classic, comfortable yet stylish making them some of my favorite go-to accessories. Whether you want them sky high or flat, distressed or sparkly and even versions for you mini-me’s these boots are an absolute cool weather essential. Life with kids (or even without kids) is not as simple as it once was – its fast paced and it often means stretching yourself thin to accomplish everything you need to (and want to) do in a day. Ankle boots are the perfect shoe to service all your style needs and give you one less thing to worry about. Check out some of my favorite pairs (for you and your little ones) and celebrate fall fashionable with some fabulous new ankle boots!

MOMMA LOVES… cool, sexy sweatshirts (what?)
I know sexy sweatshirts seems like some sort of oxymoron but imagine feeling the comfort of sweat but with the cut and style of something far cooler and sexier and voila! That’s right, once upon a time my wardrobe consisted of items that looked amazing but were either so uncomfortable I would change into jammies as soon as I got in my front door and/or so precious a butterfly gliding past would ruin it… Well, times have change and my darling Max has changed my wardrobe choices but not my aesthetic, so finding sexy sweatshirts that have enough style for my fashion appts yet enough comfort and versatility to wrestle my little one during a diaper change is key! The new sexy doesn’t have to be over exposed – the cool kids all know now that its not what you show but how you wear it – and it turns out comfort doesn’t have to mean ugly…Whether its the cut or about cut outs or even just a relaxed bit of edge – sexy sweatshirts are a must have! Fortunately for all of us, they happen to be totally in vogue at the moment even in a larger sponge bob square pants version (I kid you not – Moschino) – so we can all feel guiltless and chic about wearing what would have formerly been considered weekend couch attire. Check out some of my favorite sexy sweatshirts, and a few super cool versions (that aren’t sexy) for our little ones and get ready to get your stylish frump on!

MOMMA NEEDS… shades of red accessories
One of my very favorite style tips is to pop your look with a great shoe or bag and red accessories are super hot for fall and the perfect bit of something extra special!! Last week I did a post on the prevalence of scarlet red clothing for the upcoming season and this trend extends to accessories as well! These red accessories are bold and gorgeous and an easy (and uber chic) way to inject color into your wardrobe. Whether you prefer a bright bold red and a deep burgundy – there are so many incredible options to choose from. Check out some of my favorite red accessories and prepare to pop your look with the seasons hottest shade of fabulous!
