MOMMA LOVES… sundresses – bring on the sun

Here comes the sun – and here comes my favorite summertime staple – adorable sundresses!

I’m loving some femininity now that the sun is shining – it’s officially time for sundresses (quickly before the frost returns). Bare arms, bare legs and pretty, effortless style – they’re is nothing as perfect for the warm weather! Little sundresses really take me back to my earliest childhood memories of summer – those pretty little dresses we wore in our youth that we never grew out of wanting… They’re a one stop styling no brainer – super simple to wear with everything from sandals to ankle boots to high heels and wedges – they truly are a summertime uniform. I actually often look at boys with sadness that they don’t get to experience the true joy of throwing on sundresses on days like this (of course I live in LA and it’s truthfully most days). Whether for the brunch, a night out, a summer bbq – these frocks are perfect for every occasion and always super easy to wear! MOMMA KNOWS… pumps pump it up

My Christian Louboutin pigalle pumps are my forever shoes – these are actually my second pair of the exact same pair – the first pair lasted 10 year until they started to fall off my feet.

I remember being 20 and thinking pumps were the end of youth – that these pointy toed footwear meant the beginning of adulthood and corporate life. I held on to my clunky platform boots and my 90′s baby tee that proclaimed “Fashion sucks” when I first started at Conde Nast in the late 90′s only to come face to face with a pair of Gucci pumps (from one of Tom Ford’s first collections for the luxury brand) and, of course I fell head over heels (literally) in love. The perfect pair of pumps is trendless, timeless, effortless and fabulous. There are few accessories that can work so well with so much of your wardrobe – from pencil skirts to boyfriend jeans than these seasonless heels. MOMMA NEEDS… summer denim

Yes Max, I love summer denim too!

Let’s face it, we wear jeans all year round, but summer denim is slightly different, lighter (both in color and weight) and just a bit softer and more laid back. Often cropped for a bit of ankle action, relaxed and faded for a more laid back feel - these jeans (and jackets and skirts) are just a different version of the ones that got us through the cold. Universally adored regardless of style summer denim is a must have for those lazy Sundays, casual Fridays and pretty much every other occasion that doesn’t require fancier fare. Ever since fashionistas and celebs started getting their $10k Birkins spray painted and personalized there’s been a move towards fantasy bags – statement accessories that add instant whimsy to your look. MOMMA WANTS… maxi skirts to spring fling in

Love maxi skirts for keeping cool, looking great and running after this guy in the hot weather.

Pretty and feminine they’re on my summer must have list.

Last week I talked about the dresses and this week it’s all about maxi skirt. There is nothing that feels so free as a great, long, billowing skirt. They make me feel like spinning around in some sort of Sound of Music remake yet, as feminine as they are they also allow me a lot more mobility when chasing my toddler than their shorter versions. Nothing screams spring summer has arrived quite like maxi skirts – they’re light and pretty and quickly replace denim as my go-to day to day bottoms. Super easy to wear with sandals and a tank – they’re comfortable as sweats, yet look pretty and pulled together. That’s right, fabulous maternity clothes are a must have when you’re expecting. Truth is, your body is different and there are a million things to think about – and you really should just relax and try to enjoy this precious time, so try to enjoy styling the bump and taking plenty of pictures. I spend plenty time thinking about my clothes and various toys and accessories for my little ones I often neglect giving my home furnishings a bit of a face lift… I’m talking about the couch cushions, throws, lamps and various bits and pieces that decorate your home that you look at every day.
