The thought of summer knits may seem counter intuitive but what better way to buy things now that you can layer and wear later too! Summer stock is vanishing quickly so it’s time to start thinking about those transitional pieces that get us from season to season. Perfect summer knits can be supper light weight, open weave or translate into sexier cuts and silhouettes but there’s no question – they’re fabulous. When the nights get cooler there is nothing better to throw on that something that gives us that extra layer without adding bulk or taking away from our great summer look. This isn’t an outerwear kind of season, but it’s just perfect for some great summer knits. Light sexy sweaters are always in style and always a great addition to any wardrobe. Check out my favorite summer knits to transition your from summer to fall in light sexy style.
MOMMA LOVES… the turtleneck

This chunky Alexander McQueen turtleneck has been a long time favorite of mine – it keeps me warm and super stylish at the same time!
So, It’s the middle of January, and most stores are about to start receiving their spring shipments – but it’s still freaking cold out so a great turtleneck is still on the top of my must haves. Whether chunky or fine, rolled or funnel neck – it always looks chic while keeping me warm. A great turtleneck is your best shield against the frigid winter – it’s one of the so incredible pieces that never goes out of style because of its perfect blend of form and function. Whether body conscious and sexy or oversized and cool it’s the top of the season that you cannot be without!! Don’t get left in the cold (ha ha) make sure you’ve got a great turtleneck (or several) to get you through this year’s polar vortex!
MOMMA WANTS… chunky knits to keep me cozy

A great chunky knit is exactly what I want to wrap myself up in this winter.. It even pairs perfectly with a pair of leather leggings for a relaxed holiday party.
There is nothing I want to cuddle up more in winter than some great chunky knits. Whether and oversized boyfriend sweater or multi ply pullover its exactly what I need when the temperature drops and I want to feel chic yet cocooned. I have done my posts won slim knits and layer pieces, but the chunky knits can be layered over those and add a feeling of I just rolled out of bed but I look effortlessly amazing. Whether cashmere, cotton or wool, cardigans or pullovers, with leggings or jeans I live in these sweaters all winter. Perfect chunky knits can look lived in or polished but the effect is the same – cozy, comfort with zero sacrifice to personal style. These cozy pieces are what I crave on a sunday afternoon on the couch with my little guy or running out for a bit to eat with my hubby. Check out some of my favorite chunky knits and get ready to wear them all winter (I know I do).
MOMMA LOVES… slim knits for layering

The perfect slim knits can layer neatly under a tailored blazer to easy transition you for various temperatures.

Of course, living in LA this is about as layered as I get these days, but when I lived in London and New York my favorite heavy coat would easily fit over all of these layers!
Yes, I love a chunky cardigan, and being wrapped in an oversized pullover but its those slim knits that not only transition me to cooler weather but layer perfectly under everything from a skim blazer to my puffer jacket and winter coats… These are those fine knit knits that hug the body, look chic (when you take off your outer layer), give you that extra layer of warmth but also allow you to not overheat when you’re inside. They’re simple, elegant, easy to throw on over a little tank or tee and under everything else you put on. Fabulous slim knits may take a backseat sometimes to their louder, bolder, chunky cousins but they are every bit as important come fall and winter weather and they have the added bonus that they can last you through spring…. Check some of my favorite options and get your layers on!

MOMMA NEEDS… transitional knits

I am obsessed with my new ALC sweater – its the perfect transitional knit! I guess it’s time to get ready for fall!

I actually look forward to wearing knits and jackets (this is southern California so nothing much heavier for us)!
Its that time of year again, when there are a few summer bits left on the sale racks and fall fashion is in full bloom – so it’s time to start looking for those transitional knits! The great sweaters that will see us through the next few months as the nights get chillier but will still be entirely useful under those big heavy winter coats. Transitional knits are not those great chunky knits – these are thinner, more streamline and add an extra layer of warmth without leaving you feeling over heated. They are the perfect items of clothing to buy right now because you can wear it now and you can wear it later! Transitional knits are the perfect pullover or cardigan to throw in your bag and throw over your summer look when the air gets crisp. Check out some of my favorite transitional knits you (and your little ones) have to have now!

MOMMA NEEDS… lightweight sweaters for all seasons
It is still very cold in much of the country and, believe it or not, in Southern California we are having our first taste of it so having great lightweight sweaters that we can layer through the winter and then see us through spring are a must have. Lightweight sweaters are fantastic because you can wear them over other tops and under big coats to give you an extra bit of protection from the frost but when the weather changes they’re super chic and easy to wear on their own. Another great advantage is that they’re light and easy to throw in your bag for both you and your little ones you’re prepared for whatever shifts in temperature may come. These lightweight sweaters aren’t making a statement – they’re not setting a trend – they’re a necessity and a classic. Yes, they’re chic and simply elegant but they’re also just comfortable and practical. There are, of course, plenty of great ways to wear to bring across your personal style – layers over a crisp button front blouse or with chunky statement jewelry or just casually with a pair of skinny jeans and boots – no matter what your style or your lifestyle lightweight sweaters are always a great investment for both you and your little ones! So easy to wear and versatile enough to take you from the office to the park to a dinner date these sweaters are super stylish and effortless. Check out some of my favorites and enjoy buying things you can actually wear now AND later.
