MOMMA WANTS… ankle strap shoes (jimmy choo choo choo baby)

Ankle strap shoes have been very popular recently – it adds another dimension to a shoes silhouette but it also gives us the extra support (and who doesn’t need all the support they can get). The shoes, whether sky high heels, flats, or somewhere in between are the perfect blend of elegance and cool. No matter what style of shoe you prefer there are ankle straps on everything from boots, wedges, sandals, pumps and ballet flats. Ankle strap shoes can give you a bit of an edge while still playing it safe. In our crazy lives chasing kids and getting on with our work or daily errands we need a bit of effortless style and this accessory provides everything you need to be both stylish and even functional. There are plenty of variations on ankle strap shoes beyond heel hight there’s whether the shoes is all over strappy, more delicate and understated in it’s ankle strap or just has one big bold strap at the ankle. Easy to throw on with a pair of relaxed and distressed boyfriend jeans to transform your park outfit to your going out outfit but also conservative enough to wear at the office for an overall chic professional look. MOMMA LOVES… high tops and highchairs!

Max’s high-tops and my Isabel Marant wedge sneakers – its all about high tops and highchairs baby!

High tops are so popular, it doesn’t matter if you’re 2 years old or 50 years old, if you’re a soccer mom or a fashionista mom, these sneakers are hot! They’re comfortable and yes, incredibly stylish! Whether you prefer a wedged high top sneaker (to give you a bit of extra height) or something more streamline and flat, there are so many incredible options that will have you chasing your little one with ease and finesse! They look great paired with skinny jeans or even a maxi dress – celebs have been rocking this look (with the help of designer Isabel Marant’s perfect wedge hi tops) for years. I am no athlete and actually have not owned sneakers for years until this trend hit the big time – now I have my Zara wedge sneakers and I recently invested in the Isabel Marant’s… This is a trend I hope is here to stay – I can keep up with my little one and then, without missing a beat, head out on stylist pulls or brunch with my girlfriends – done and done. They’re one part ironic and one part heaven sent! Great for out busy lifestyle and also perfect for our little one’s play schedule. Its shop the look sunday time again, but this week I wanted to take a moment to illustrate how to wear the latest trends. Basically, I’m taking some of the top trends that I have featured this week and giving you two outfits with the same item which will take you from desk to date and then from the park to brunch. So., for example, take the same graphic print skirt and pair it with a simple tee and sandals and it can easily take you from the park with the kids to brunch with the ladies (give or take some jewels) and then another option when we take that same skirt and let it take you from the office to off for the evening. MOMMA LOVES… nautical accessories for women and children

Max’s Toms and My Louboutins are getting ready for a nod to nautical this summer!

One of the most classic and ever present trends is the nautical look – its clean, polished, elegant and and overall effortless classic. I recently did a post on stripes and thought I needed to follow it up with a nod to nautical accessories. There are just so many beautiful options out there that can add that extra bit of something special to your look. MOMMA WANTS… fabulous shoes

That’s right, my birthday is just a week away and as a consolation prize (a prize to console me about getting a year older) I’m hoping for some fabulous shoes to lift my spirits! Its not every day I turn 27 (wink wink – I’d also like to lose a decade for my birthday) and it’s good to want things – so I wanted to share with you some of the fabulous shoes that are new, fresh, and might one day be mine… These are the aspirational shoes – the, are these shoes or are they art? shoes. MOMMA KNOWS… accessories make the outfit

There’s no question, as a stylist, accessories make the outfit. The bits and pieces we choose to put with a look can dress it up, down and turn it from boring to fabulous. Now, I have a love affair with my bags and shoes, but that’s not what I’m talking about in this post…. I’m talking about all the other (sometimes forgotten) accessories - belts, hats, scarves, statement jewelry – that can transform a little black dress or simple jeans and t-shirt. I have never been much of a belt person but I love my scarves – my classic look is jeans or leggings with a simple top, blazer and scarf – its all about the details. An incredible piece of statement jewelry can be all you need to turn a simple walk in the park outfit to a night not the town outfit. Investing in classic pieces and then letting the accessories make the outfit has been a long time style secret of fashionistas everywhere. My little boy hasn’t quite gotten into accessorizing, but I can’t resist how adorable he looks in his amber teething necklace!
