MOMMA KNOWS… wedges are wonderful

I love a great pair of wedges and my new Sophia Webster ones are going to give me a lift and a perfect pop of color for spring!

I’m feeling super spring-y this week with the gorgeous weather and the perfect warm weather footwear are a great pair of wedges. Comfortable, cool but also sexy these shoes give you extra height, look perfect with all your spring/summer looks and always feel amazing. A great pair of wedges aren’t just nice, they’re a must for every barbecue, vacation, brunch and date night. They can take you easily for day to night and from weekend to work week. I’m all about adding a bit of an edge to my look so I am always drawn to spiked accessories. While not wanting to be injured by my own stiletto I absolutely love this touch of punk that’s not just edgy but also incredibly chic! A little bit of heavy metal on your bags an shoes might be exactly what you need to transform your look from classic to modern. These spiked accessories have been around for many seasons now and won’t be going anywhere any time soon, and while the more hardcore interpretations are more likely to find their way into Kate Moss’s wardrobe than Kate Middleton’s I think there’s plenty of room for some rock stud embellishments for all of us. MOMMA LOVES… whimsical shoes

This is from a fairytale accessories photo shoot I style years ago with photographer Karin Catt.. There’s nothing like whimsical shoes to inspire, delight and captivate the little girl in all of us.

I love doing this post, and I’ve done a few in the past, but whimsical shoes are some of my favorite things. The whole idea of fashion as art has always resonated with me and I am constantly amazed by the innovative thinking behind some of the magnificent footwear out there. Incredible designers from Sophia Webster to Charlotte Olympia are breaking the accessories mold and putting out the most incredible whimsical shoes you could ever dream up. Yes, they can be insanely expensive and achingly impractical but they’re water cooler pieces – they’re talking points, outfit changers and sometimes, just something to fanatsize about. All of that said, these whimsical shoes are too fabulous to not get their moment in the sun. Too fantastical to not know about. Spread joy with the love motif!

So yesterday I talked about my birthday and jewelry, well, with Valentines Day moment away I wanted to focus on love motifs in fashion that withstand trends and time. Everything from the iconic Cartier love bracelet to the word love and all the hearts that emphatically infiltrate our wardrobes (as well as our little ones). Reminiscent for the free love 60′s moment the love motifs reign supreme, and why not – perhaps all we need is more love in this world. MOMMA LOVES… baby’s got flats (shoes, that is)

My favorite new pair of Chloe flats… on flatbeds… I just couldn’t resist.

It’s no secret that I’m a mom and a stylist so a great pair of flats aren’t just convenient – they’re a necessity. I have been a long time high heel girl, so taking the dive into the world of my god given height was frightening at first. But after falling down a step (just one) while pregnant I resolved to put my heels on the shelf for a bit and invest in some flats I could love. It turned out that there is a whole world of incredible heel-less shoes out there, my shoe addiction didn’t have to be squelched for my new more practical style – it just had to look with fresh eyes. Everything from rounded ballet flats to pointed and spikey, metallics, prints, neon colors – there was no end to the fabulous flats available. Yes, there is enough room in the shoe word for fabulous heels AND their often overlooked cousins. Today, I am focusing on the unsung heroes of footwear, amazing flats that do it all in comfort and style.
