Embellished accessories are those bags and shoes that aren’t just form and aren’t just function they are next level. They are closer to art than they are to simple accessories. They are adorned, decorated and whimsical. I am always a sucker for embellished accessories because I know I will love them forever. They’re not classic, but they don’t need to be. They are special enough to withstand the test of time. My most recent purchase are the Sophia Webster butterfly shoes – I know I’lll only wear them a handful of times this year but I also know I’ll wear them for the next 10 + years because they are just so unique. Embellished accessories are beaded, bejeweled, or just plain sculptural. They’re conversation pieces and they are the outfit. MOMMA WANTS… pastel accessories for Spring!

Happy Easter everyone – I am loving all the beautiful pastels and thinking its time to break out the pastel accessories! Can’t wait for Max’s easter egg hunt… (ps – how sweet were his little baby booties!)

Easter is just a few days away and I have to admit to being smitten with all the pastel easter eggs I’ve been gathering for Max’s easter egg hunt – and I am now on my own hunt for some fabulous pastel accessories! Everything from sea foam green to lavender, lemon yellow and pale pink these bags and shoes don’t have to have a vibrant hue to capture my attention. MATERNITY MONDAY… diaper bags that you’re friends without kids will want too!

If you have a baby or are about to have a baby there is one thing I can promise you – you need a diaper bag! The must have accessory for all new moms is a cary all bag to haul all of the essentials that come with having a little bundle of joy. Diaper bags come in various shapes, sizes, patterns, fabrics and feature bottle holders, changing mats and are meant to keep all your little one’s bits and pieces organized and accessible. That said, these bags must often replace our own favorite bags for a period of time so it is essential to choose a bag you love more than just for its functionality but for its aesthetics as well. So, following up on last weeks post – today I’m featuring some of my very favorite things – neon accessories! MOMMA LOVES…. fringe benefits, the hot trend for spring!

Max and I walking the line – a bit of fringe takes an ordinary tee and gives it a style boost.

Fringe was everywhere in the Spring/Summer runway collections and now it’s in every store and waiting for us! Everything from clothes, bags, shoes even bathing suits are featuring this tasseled trend. One part boho chic and one part rocker, there’s no doubt that fringe is a HUGE trend for spring. Whether you want to go all in and rock a fully fringed dress or just dip your toe in the trend water and sport a bit of fringe detailing there is something for everyone and its an easy way to update your usual look in a very modern, wearable way. A classic tee with some tassled detailing, a fringed sandal or bag with your favorite summer dress – it injects instant style into any look. Personally, I am OBSESSED with all the amazing new Gucci fringe accessories – heels, flats, boots, bags – they’re all so amazing it hurts.. Last week I did my post on color block clothes and today I’m featuring some amazing color block accessories for both us and our little ones. I am all about accessories – bags, shoes, jewels – these are the things that transform a look from ordinary to extraordinary and transition an outfit from day to night. Color block accessories are particularly brilliant because they open up a world of options in terms of your color choices and can pop a very simple outfit and take it to another level. Investing in some great accessories allows you to play with a trend in a more safe, conservative way but will also get a lot more wear. We change outfits every day but often times will carry the same bag every day for a year + and not think twice. I always say that great bags and shoes make the outfit and color block accessories are the easiest way to be elegant yet bold. Large Canvas tote bags are part of a mom’s uniform. I have found my Valentino camo print tote to be the perfect non diaper bag carry all. I love it because it’s very me AND suits all my mommy needs. Its fashion and fabulous, but I can still throw all of Max’s stuff in there and be prepped for whatever toddler mishaps might come. Canvas tote bags are great because they’re durable and they can fit lots of stuff in them – and what’s better is that there are so many stylish options out there that the bag you carry to the park can be the same bag you carry to brunch with the ladies. Now, for the age old question of what’s in my bag… I feel like Mary Poppins at time – with the bottomless bag. A few necessities for me and everything that my little one might possibly need on and outing… Here are the things I don’t leave home without.

MY WALLET. This is pretty obvious, but I like a nice big wallet that zips up neatly (so you know who can’t fish it out and dump everything out) and can fit all my cards, cash, change, receipts and lists.

DIAPERS DIAPERS DIAPERS. I never leave home without several diapers on hand. When he was a real little baby I probably packed a lot more than I do now but I always want to be prepared. I have always been a fan on Pampers – but I will say I’ve just discovered Jessica Alba’s Honest Company diapers – so INSANELY cute with various prints from skulls to anchors to camo – it makes me want to leave little one’s pants at home! I also always carry around some plastic bag for disposing of any soiled diapers and they’re always good to store clothes that little one may have gotten wet (or whatever other mess they get themselves into).

MY SMART PHONE. Of course, in this day and age we don’t go anywhere without our phones – but I love it because the camera on my phone is so great and I never want to miss a photo op! Also, and I’m not a huge advocate for too much screen time for little ones, but we keep some great baby apps (Fisher-Price apps are always great) and the PBS kids app (with great classic shows like Sesame Street and Curious George) on our phones so that when he starts to get fussy while out we have a bit of entertainment for him while we smoothly (and with as little drama) can smoothly make our exit.

Polka dots are hardly a trend and more of a staple. Feminine, sweet and yet effortlessly cool there is something about polka dots that keeps us coming back for more. They’re classic and safe but there’s noting twee about these spots. Now a days they’re more graphic, bold, varied and interesting. Polka dots are great graphic prints which feel safe and familiar yet they can still be strong and modern. Whether you like pretty and preppy or prefer a bit of an edge there are polka dots for every style that can take you from the office to the park to a night out on the town. One of the most classic and ever present trends is the nautical look – its clean, polished, elegant and and overall effortless classic. I recently did a post on stripes and thought I needed to follow it up with a nod to nautical accessories. There are just so many beautiful options out there that can add that extra bit of something special to your look.
