MOMMA LOVES… printed accessories add a stylish twist

Max’s car print Converse sneakers and my new pistol print Miu Miu flats are two of our favorite pairs of shoes for making a stylish statement!

Last week I talked about all the playful pattern mixing out there but there’s another way to pop your look and that’s with some fabulous printed accessories! Whether you want to pair these bags and shoes with clashing printed clothes or pop a neutral outfit – these accessories are hot hot hot! Everything from pretty florals to patent pistols – these printed accessories are loud, proud and insanely cool. I am of the school of keeping a neutral “uniform” – jeans, tees, little black dresses – the things that never go out of style and then turning them fashion with fabulous accessories – and printed accessories are often the key to maximum impact! MOMMA WANTS… fantasy footwear

I’m a girl who loves shoes, so fantasy footwear is always on my radar. I’ve done these posts a couple of times now because I just never tire of fabulous shoes! These aren’t your practical shoes, they’re hardly even functional – fantasy footwear are water cooler shoes. Shoes that may strangers stop you in the street to talk about them, gawk, even take pictures (believe me, it’s happened). Fantasy footwear can be astronomically expensive and entirely impractical – they are often closer to art that a simple accessory. In fact, they may only get worn a handful of times a year but when you do, you get your money’s worth. These aren’t shoes that make the outfit, fantasy footwear IS the outfit. And even if we never take the dive and buy a pair of these crazy kicks – it’s still fun to see them and it’s always good to want things. MOMMA NEEDS… chunky heeled shoes

A great chunky heel sandal (like my favorite Lanvin sandals) are the perfect shoe to carry you from season to season with effortless style!

One thing I learned very early is the importance of chunky heeled shoes. All it took was shredding my favourite stilettos between the wooden slats on my friends deck at a bbq to realise skinny isn’t always best. Chunky heeled shoes give you more surface area to put your weight on so they’re much easier to walk in but they also give a bit of an edge to your look. I am not a fan of mini skirt or mini dresses with a sky high stiletto.. I think it can quickly look tarty and contrived – but pair the same look with chunky heeled shoes and you have a completely different style. Its relaxed, cool, simple yet fashion forward. I also think that chunky heeled shoes transition more easily between seasons. The same shoe you wear in summer with your mini skirts and sundresses can be worn with tights for fall/winter seamlessly. Nothing screams summer like (safely) tanned legs, a great pedicure and some super sexy strappy sandals. I’m not talking about those flat gladiator styles – I’m talking about heels here. Strappy sandals never go out of style and are the perfect accompanying accessory to your favorite summer looks. No, not particularly comfortable for your park and beach outings but for a summer soiree, wedding, BBQ and even the office a gorgeous pair of strappy sandals never fails to stun. Whether sky high or just moderately high, metallic, neutral, or colorful – summer’s strappy sandals are a must have! MOMMA LOVES… textured accessories

Textured accessories – get the expensive look (this bag is embossed leather – no dinosaurs were harmed!)

There is no questions that textured accessories have a gorgeous expensive look. There is just something about those bags and shoes with an embossed leather or even the look of a skin (real or faux) that gives them that next level feeling. Textured accessories are richer, exotic and completely captivating (at least if you are an accessory addict such as myself). They give off that vibe that makes you want to reach out and touch them… Perhaps they take us back to our youthful love of pat the bunny and the various kids books where we learned to understand touch and feel. The incredible thing is that these textured accessories don’t have to be expensive – certainly when dealing with real skins (from fur to snake) prices sky rocket but there is so much technology that you can get that reach out and touch me look from embossed leather and even the faux leather fabrications that are now available. Bare in mind – fabrics such as python are actually illegal in certain places (such as California) so its incredible that designers such as Stella McCartney (who only uses vegan materials) has delivered that stunning texture in animal friendly fabrics… Check out some of my favorite textured accessories that take the bags and shoes we love to another level – and you won’t want to take your eye or hands off them!

MOMMA LOVES… metallic accessories
